Rapido, known for its bike taxi service in India, has introduced a new service named Ownly, which will provide food delivery.
With this launch, Rapido is entering the food delivery market and will compete directly with big players like Zomato and Swiggy.
At present, the service is in its testing phase and has been rolled out only in select areas of Bengaluru.
Rapido’s co-founder and CEO, Arvind Sanka, confirmed that Ownly is a subsidiary of Ctrlx Technologies.
Special Offers and Business Model
Ownly is currently providing food at lower prices compared to competitors. On top of that, customers are getting an extra 15% discount on food orders.
Unlike Zomato and Swiggy, Ownly does not charge commission from restaurants, which helps in keeping prices down.
To save costs, Rapido plans to deliver food mainly from nearby restaurants. This method will help in saving fuel and increasing profits.
Large Fleet and App Availability
Rapido also aims to build a massive delivery fleet. Reports suggest that the company plans to deploy 1 crore (100 lakh) vehicles across India, including 50 lakh two-wheelers.
This fleet will be used not only for food delivery but also for taxi and courier services.
The Ownly app is available on both iOS and Android. Users are advised to download it only from the official app stores. Installing it from third-party sources can be unsafe and risky.
