If you trade in the stock market, note that there will be two special holidays this month.
According to the official holiday list of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the market will be closed on:
Friday, August 15 – Independence Day
Wednesday, August 27 – Ganesh Chaturthi
On these days, all trading activities—including equity and equity derivatives—will remain shut.
Other Closures in August
Besides these, regular weekend holidays will fall on August 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31.
Interestingly, August has fewer trading holidays compared to September and October, which will have more breaks due to festivals like Gandhi Jayanti, Dussehra, and Diwali.
On Diwali, there will also be a special Muhurat Trading session in the evening for a limited time.
Market Outlook and Planning Ahead
With high volatility in the market, it’s important for investors to plan trades and investments in advance, considering these holidays.
Recently, President Donald Trump imposed an additional 25% tariff on India, increasing the total tariff to 50%. This move has caused uncertainty and affected investor sentiment.
Despite this, there is some optimism due to two upcoming events:
President Trump’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 15
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s possible visit to the United States
These developments could influence market trends in the coming weeks.
