The instant messaging app WhatsApp, with over 2.4 billion active users, is rolling out new features that enhance the user experience.
Among the most notable updates is the ability to upload videos and audio clips of up to 60 seconds for status updates.
New Status Update Features
WABetaInfo reports that the new status update feature, which increases the previous 30-second limit to 60 seconds, is currently available to select users and will gradually become available to more users in the coming days.
This update aims to improve the sharing experience by allowing users to share more moments and stories with their contacts.
The feature is part of the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.24.7.6 update and will be available for both iOS and Android users.
Event Reminders for Community Groups
In addition to the status update feature, WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to set reminders for events in community groups.
This feature, still under development, will enable community administrators to ensure members attend scheduled events by setting notifications for 30 minutes, 2 hours, or even 1 day before the event. Administrators can set a maximum of two notification time options.
AI-Generated Profile Photos
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is also working on a feature that allows users to create AI-generated profile photos based on their interests and personal mood.
This feature is currently in development and being tested in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.24.11.17 update.
This innovative use of AI aims to provide users with personalized and unique profile photos.
These updates reflect WhatsApp’s continuous efforts to enhance user engagement and provide new, exciting features for its vast user base.
