Planning to buy a new smartphone or tablet? You may have to spend more than before.
Oppo and Xiaomi have increased the prices of several devices in India, including premium smartphones
and popular tablets. Some models are now up to ₹5,000 more expensive.
The latest price hike affects devices like the Oppo Find X9s, Xiaomi Pad 8, Redmi Pad 2, and Redmi 15A.
The increase comes as smartphone brands continue to face higher production costs.
Oppo Find X9s Gets a ₹5,000 Price Hike
The Oppo Find X9s has received the biggest price increase. Both storage variants now cost ₹5,000 more.
The 12GB RAM + 256GB model is now priced at ₹84,999 instead of ₹79,999. The 12GB RAM + 512GB version has gone up from ₹89,999 to ₹94,999.
The smartphone features a 6.59-inch display, MediaTek Dimensity 9500s processor, 12GB RAM, a 7,025mAh battery, a 50MP triple rear camera setup, and a 32MP front camera.
Xiaomi Pad 8 Also Becomes More Expensive
Xiaomi has also raised the price of the Xiaomi Pad 8.
The 12GB RAM + 256GB model now costs ₹46,999, up from ₹43,999. The Nano Texture version has also become ₹3,000 costlier and is now priced at ₹48,999.
This is not the first price increase for the tablet. Xiaomi had already increased the prices of several Pad 8 variants in August.
Redmi Pad 2 and Redmi 15A See Price Revision
The Redmi Pad 2 has become costlier by up to ₹1,000 across different variants.
4GB + 128GB Wi-Fi: ₹18,999 → ₹19,999
4GB + 128GB Cellular: ₹19,999 → ₹20,999
6GB + 128GB Cellular: ₹22,999 → ₹23,999
8GB + 256GB Cellular: ₹24,999 → ₹25,999
The budget-friendly Redmi 15A has also received a price hike.
The 4GB + 64GB model now costs ₹16,499 instead of ₹15,999. The 4GB + 128GB version is priced at ₹18,499, while the 6GB + 128GB model now costs ₹20,499.
Why Are Smartphone Prices Going Up?
The main reason behind these price hikes is the rising cost of memory components such as RAM and storage chips.
As manufacturing costs increase, smartphone companies are passing some of the extra cost on to buyers.
Oppo and Xiaomi are not the only brands increasing prices. Several smartphone makers have revised the prices of their devices in recent months due to higher component costs.
