Maruti Suzuki Cuts AMT Car Prices by Rs 5,000

Maruti Suzuki has reduced the prices of its AMT cars by Rs 5,000. This price cut applies to cars sold through both Nexa and Arena dealerships. The models affected include Baleno, Renault, Wagon R, Dzire, Alto K10, among others.

Reasons for the Price Reduction

Maruti Suzuki explained that only 10 percent of Arena customers and over 20 percent of Nexa customers choose automatic cars.

To encourage more buyers to opt for their AMT models, Maruti has reduced prices by up to Rs 5,000 across its entire AGS (Auto Gear Shift) range, with the exception of the recently launched Swift.

Company Statement and Sales Expectations

Last year, Maruti sold approximately 1.32 lakh AGS cars. With the new price reduction, the company anticipates a 15-20 percent increase in sales for the upcoming financial year

. Partho Banerjee, Maruti Suzuki’s head of sales and marketing, stated, “We want more and more entry-level customers to upgrade to automatic variants.”

Models Included and Pricing Details

The price reduction applies to Maruti models such as Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio, Wagon R, Dzire, Ignis, Baleno, and Frontx.

However, models like Brezza, Ertiga, Ciaz, and XL6, which come with torque converter automatic transmissions, are not included in this price cut.

The new prices took effect on June 1, 2024. Previously, the starting price for Maruti’s AMT range was Rs 5.56 lakh for the Alto K10 VXI Automatic, but it has now been reduced to Rs 5.51 lakh.

Introduction of Limited Edition Models

Additionally, Maruti Suzuki will launch a new Dream Edition variant for three models: Alto K10, S-Presso, and Celerio, each priced at Rs 4.99 lakh.

This new variant reduces the price of the Celerio by Rs 38,000, as the current entry-level LXI model is priced at Rs 5.37 lakh. These limited Dream Edition models will be available only in the month of June.
