Instagram is introducing a long-awaited feature that will give users more control over how their profiles look.
The platform has announced a new profile customization option that will allow users to rearrange posts on their profile grid without deleting or hiding them.
The update was revealed by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri. With this feature, users will be able to organize their profile exactly the way they want.
What Will the New Feature Do?
Until now, Instagram displayed posts in chronological order, with the latest post appearing first on the profile grid. Users could pin up to three posts, but they had no control over the placement of other posts.
With the new grid reordering feature, users will be able to manually move posts to different positions using a simple drag-and-drop option.
This means they can place their favorite, most-liked, most-viewed, or most-shared posts wherever they want on their profile.
Instagram says this will help users showcase their content in a more personalized way.
Whether it’s a creator highlighting their best work or a business promoting key products, the feature offers greater flexibility in profile design.
A Feature Users Have Been Requesting for Years
Instagram users and content creators have been asking for this feature for a long time. According to the company, the update will help users create a stronger first impression when someone visits their profile.
The feature will also be useful for creators, brands, and businesses that want to highlight important campaigns, products, or content.
Users can change the layout whenever they want, and the original posting date of the content will remain unchanged.
Instagram Plus Subscription Already Available
Before announcing the grid reordering feature, Instagram had also introduced its paid subscription service, Instagram Plus.
The subscription currently costs ₹299 per month and offers several additional features. These include keeping stories visible for up to 48 hours and viewing someone else’s story without appearing in the viewer list.
With the new profile grid customization feature, Instagram is giving users even more ways to personalize their profiles and highlight the content that matters most to them.
