Google Rolls Out New AI-Powered Q&A Feature in Gmail

Gmail is getting more exciting with a new AI feature that will make your email experience better.

Google has started rolling out the Q&A feature for Gmail on Android, powered by the AI chatbot Gemini.

This feature lets users ask questions about their Gmail inbox directly on their mobile devices. It was already available for Gmail on the web, and Google plans to introduce it to iOS devices soon.

What is the Gmail Q&A Feature?

According to Google’s Workspace Updates blog, the Gmail Q&A feature allows users to ask specific questions and get detailed answers from their inbox or Google Drive files.

For example, you can ask Gemini things like, “What was my agency’s PO number?” or “How much did the company spend on the last marketing event?”

The feature works similarly to the side panel on the web version, where users can find specific details,

view unread messages, check emails from a specific sender, or summarize emails on a particular topic.

Gradual Rollout and How to Use the Feature

Google is gradually rolling out this feature to Google Workspace customers with Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education, and Education Premium add-ons.

It’s also available to Google One AI Premium subscribers. To use the Gmail Q&A feature on Android, users need to enable smart features and personalization.

Admins can set default personalization settings for their users in the admin console.

Once enabled, users can access Gemini in the Gmail app by clicking on the black Gemini star at the top right or using the ‘Summarize this email’ option.

You can then ask questions, and the feature will search your inbox to provide the information you need.
