Gemini 4 Argon is Google’s new frontier AI model, designed to handle complex and long-running tasks in areas such as coding, software engineering, research, professional work and cybersecurity.
Google says the model is its most powerful AI model to date. However, Gemini 4 Argon is not yet available to general users, with access currently limited to selected early testers.
Gemini 4 Argon Gets 1 Million Token Output
One of the biggest features of Gemini 4 Argon is its 1 million output token limit. This is a major increase from the previous 64,000-token capacity, allowing the model to generate much larger outputs during a single task.
The higher output limit is designed for workflows that require multiple steps and extended processing.
It could be useful for working with large codebases, lengthy research projects and professional tasks in areas such as legal and financial work.
Google Uses the Model for Software Engineering
Google says Gemini 4 Argon is already being used for real-world software engineering tasks. Its engineers are using the model for debugging, algorithm design and migration work involving large codebases.
According to Google, the model achieved a score of 77.9 percent on DeepSWE v1.1. The company also said its AI agents are being used for large-scale C/C++ to Rust codebase migrations, including some projects with more than 800,000 lines of code.
These examples show the focus on using the model for longer and more complicated engineering workflows rather than only handling short questions or simple coding requests.
Gemini 4 Argon Focuses on Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is another major area for the new model. Google says Gemini 4 Argon can identify software vulnerabilities, validate them and help patch critical flaws.
Google’s cybersecurity company Wiz has used Argon as part of its Scan for Good initiative.
According to the company, during the initial phase, the model identified a critical vulnerability in healthcare software that could have exposed sensitive personal information.
Limited Access Before Wider Rollout
Gemini 4 Argon is currently available on a limited basis to trusted cyber defenders and the US government through Google’s Fairwind Program.
Google says feedback from early testers will be used to improve the model’s safety safeguards. The company plans to expand access to developers, businesses and eventually general users.
For now, Google has not announced a confirmed date for general availability. The initial rollout is focused on testing how the model performs on demanding, long-running professional and technical tasks before wider access.
