A major change has been introduced at Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station. Railway employees who were earlier allowed to park their vehicles for free are now being asked to pay parking charges, just like other visitors.
The move has upset many railway staff members, who say they were never charged for parking before. The issue has already sparked disagreements between employees and parking contractors at the station.
Railway Employees Angry Over New Charges
According to reports, parking contractors have instructed their staff to collect parking fees from everyone, including railway employees working at the station.
The new rule came into effect recently, and railway employees have strongly opposed it. Many employees are unhappy because they now have to pay for parking during their daily shifts.
At present, railway employees are reportedly being offered a 50% discount on parking charges, but many believe they should continue to receive free parking as before.
Complaints Made, But No Relief Yet
Employees have raised the issue with senior railway officials, hoping the decision would be reversed. However, they have not received any relief so far.
Officials reportedly told employees that the decision was taken at the divisional level and any changes or exemptions can only be approved by higher authorities.
Some employees have even warned that they may launch protests if the issue is not resolved.

Similar Rules May Be Introduced at Other Stations
Railway officials in the Delhi division have indicated that similar parking policies could be implemented at other railway stations across the capital.
If that happens, thousands of railway employees may have to bear additional daily expenses. Staff members working regular eight-hour shifts say the new charges could significantly increase their monthly commuting costs.
The situation is being closely watched, as employees continue to demand the restoration of free parking facilities at railway stations.
