ChatGPT Virtual Try-On is now available for online shoppers who want to see how clothes and accessories may look on them before making a purchase.
The feature creates an AI-generated image showing the selected product on the user’s uploaded photo.
ChatGPT Virtual Try-On Makes Shopping Easier
The new Virtual Try-On feature appears with a “Try on” button on many clothing and accessory listings in ChatGPT shopping results. Users can tap the button and upload a selfie or a full-body photo.
According to OpenAI, the feature is powered by ChatGPT Images 2.5. It is designed to give shoppers a visual preview of selected clothing or accessories before they decide whether to buy them.
For example, if a user finds a shirt, jacket or accessory they like in ChatGPT shopping results, they can select the Try On option and upload their photo. ChatGPT Images then uses the photo as a reference to create a virtual image featuring the chosen product.
How ChatGPT Virtual Try-On Works
Using the feature is relatively simple. First, users need to search for clothing or accessories through ChatGPT. If a product supports the feature, the Try On button will appear in the shopping results.
After selecting the option, users can upload a selfie or full-body picture. A full-body photo may provide a better reference when trying on clothing because it gives the AI more information about the person’s appearance and outfit.
The resulting image is intended as a visual preview. However, the AI-generated picture does not guarantee that the actual product will have the same fit or size.
Check Size and Product Details Before Buying
The virtual preview can help shoppers understand how a product might look, but it should not replace normal checks before placing an order. Users should still look at the size chart, measurements and other product details.
The return and exchange policy should also be checked, particularly when buying clothing where the actual fit can differ from the appearance in an AI-generated image.
Virtual Try-On Is Rolling Out on ChatGPT
According to OpenAI’s release notes, the Virtual Try-On feature is available on both the mobile and web versions of ChatGPT. However, the feature is being rolled out gradually.
This means some users may not see the Try On button in their ChatGPT shopping results yet. Availability can depend on whether the feature has been rolled out to their account.
