AC and TV Prices are set to rise from October 1 as several home appliance and electronics companies prepare to increase prices ahead of Diwali.

The expected hike across different products could make festive shopping more expensive for customers.

Companies including Blue Star, Godrej Appliances, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have confirmed price increases across various categories. Some companies have already raised prices by around 4% to 10% depending on the product.

AC and TV Prices May Rise

According to reports, LG and Bosch Home Comfort, which manufactures Hitachi brand ACs, have also increased AC prices by around 5%. Panasonic, meanwhile, is monitoring the market situation.

AC prices are expected to rise by around 5% to 8%. Washing machines, refrigerators and LED TVs could see increases of around 3% to 4%, although the exact hike may differ between companies and product categories.

Why Are AC and TV Prices Rising

Companies have cited higher costs of key raw materials such as copper, steel, aluminium and plastic as one of the main reasons behind the price increases.

Higher freight costs have also added to overall expenses. Companies have further pointed to fluctuations in the rupee against the dollar and ongoing tensions in West Asia as factors affecting costs.

This will be the third price increase for electronic goods in 2026, after companies raised prices twice earlier this year. Rising production costs have continued to put pressure on manufacturers.

Diwali Buyers May Get Old Stock

Despite the new prices, some customers may still find products at older rates during the Diwali shopping period. Dealers and distributors purchased and stocked a significant amount of goods at previous prices during August and September.

According to Godrej Enterprises Group, this existing stock could last for around one to one and a half months. As a result, some retailers may continue selling older inventory at previous prices for a limited period.

New Prices May Show After Diwali

AC and TV Prices may become more visible at retail stores as the old inventory is gradually sold. Customers planning to buy home appliances around Diwali may therefore find different prices depending on the stock available with individual retailers.

The impact of the price increase is expected to become clearer after the existing stock purchased at older rates is exhausted.
