Concerned about your mobile connectivity? If you’ve been contemplating switching your telecom service provider, the process of porting your mobile number is simpler than you think.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to seamlessly transfer your number to Jio, Airtel, or any other preferred telecom network.
Easy Steps to Port Your Number
Porting your mobile number is a hassle-free process that can be completed within 5 to 7 working days. Whether you’re moving from Airtel to Jio or vice versa, follow these simple steps to initiate the porting process.
Initiating the Porting Process
To kickstart the porting process, send an SMS to 1900 as per TRAI guidelines. You’ll receive a unique UPC code via SMS, which you’ll need to retain.
Next, visit the nearest service center or the online portal of your chosen telecom provider to recharge and obtain a new SIM card.
Completing the Process
Upon recharging, fill out a form with your personal details and submit it. An agent from the telecom company will deliver the new SIM card to your doorstep.
Once you insert the SIM card and provide the UPC code, your number will be activated within 48 hours.
Important Rules to Note
Before initiating the porting process, ensure all dues with your current operator are settled, especially for post-paid connections.
Additionally, users must have been with their current operator for at least 90 days to be eligible for porting.
Beware that any ongoing requests to change your number’s ownership will result in the cancellation of your porting request.
Lastly, adhere to all terms and conditions outlined in the Subscriber Agreement before switching services.
