Maruti Suzuki, the popular car manufacturer, has announced a price increase for its flagship compact SUV, the Grand Vitara.
Effective from Monday, 17 July, the company stated that the price of the Strong Hybrid variants of the SUV will now be raised by up to ₹4,000.
This decision comes as a result of the addition of a new safety feature in the Strong Hybrid version of the Grand Vitara.
The SUV, which is a rebadged variant of the Toyota Urban Cruiser Highrider, competes with other vehicles like the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
New Safety Feature Added to Hybrid Variant
Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new safety feature for the hybrid variant of the Grand Vitara SUV.
In a regulatory filing on Monday, the company announced the inclusion of the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) in the Intelligent Electric Hybrid version of the Grand Vitara.
The addition of this feature will result in an additional cost of ₹4,000 over the current ex-showroom price.
The AVAS generates an alarm sound audible within a five-foot range, helping ensure the safety of both drivers and pedestrians.
Price Range and Variants
Maruti Suzuki offers the Strong-Hybrid variant of the Grand Vitara SUV at a price range starting from ₹18.29 lakh (ex-showroom) and going up to ₹19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Grand Vitara, launched in September last year, is available in four variants, including the mild hybrid, strong hybrid, and 4-wheel drive options.
It is also one of the few SUVs in its segment that can be equipped with a CNG kit.
Engine Powertrain Details
The Grand Vitara is equipped with Maruti’s new generation K-Series 1.5-litre, Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine, capable of producing 99bhp power and 136Nm peak torque.
It can be paired with either a five-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
The Strong Hybrid variant utilizes an e-CVT transmission. The CNG variants are available exclusively with a manual gearbox, generating 86.63bhp of power and 121.5Nm of peak torque.
These updates from Maruti Suzuki bring added safety and enhanced options to the Grand Vitara SUV, providing customers with a wider range of choices and peace of mind while on the road.
