Gemini Auto Browse in Chrome is now available in India, bringing a new AI feature that can search websites, compare options and complete multi-step tasks on the web.

The feature is available on both desktop and Android for eligible Google AI subscribers.

Unlike a regular AI chatbot that only provides answers, Auto Browse can interact with websites and carry out tasks on a user’s behalf.

Gemini Auto Browse in Chrome: What It Can Do

The feature can navigate websites, fill out forms and handle multiple steps needed to complete an online task.

Users can ask Gemini to compare products, look for deals and help with online purchases.

It can also assist with tasks such as booking travel or restaurant reservations and scheduling appointments, reducing the need to manually move between different webpages.

Who Can Use Gemini Auto Browse in India?

Gemini in Chrome is being made available to Android users in India, while the Auto Browse feature has more limited access.

In India, Auto Browse is available to Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra subscribers on supported desktop and Android devices. The feature currently works in English.

Google has also introduced Gemini in Chrome’s broader AI capabilities, including webpage summaries and assistance with information found in the browser.

Google Adds Safety Checks for AI Tasks

Because Auto Browse can interact directly with websites, Google has included safeguards designed to reduce risks such as prompt injection attacks.

These attacks can use hidden instructions on webpages to try to manipulate an AI agent.

The feature is also designed to ask for user confirmation before completing certain sensitive actions.

Users can monitor the task and stop the process if they notice something unexpected.

Google’s AI browsing assistant can therefore go beyond simply answering questions, but users should remain involved when the task involves purchases, personal information or other sensitive actions.
