Bharat Taxi drivers in Uttar Pradesh will get a zero-commission model along with social security coverage of up to ₹5 lakh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the service in the state, covering taxi, auto and two-wheeler drivers.
The initiative aims to provide drivers with greater financial security while also improving transportation facilities for passengers. Drivers can register on the platform without paying commission on their earnings.
Bharat Taxi Drivers Get New Benefits
Under the Bharat Taxi model, taxi, two-wheeler and three-wheeler drivers can join the platform on a zero-commission basis.
The government says the social security cover of up to ₹5 lakh can provide additional financial support to drivers and their families.
CM Yogi said such a system for drivers had not previously been envisioned in this way. He added that social security can give drivers greater confidence and peace of mind while carrying out their daily work.
Bharat Taxi is currently operational in Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj. Agreements have also been signed with institutions including Lucknow Airport, Lucknow Metro and Lucknow Police.
Bharat Taxi and Mahakumbh Example
The Chief Minister referred to the Prayagraj Mahakumbh 2025 to explain the importance of two-wheeler transport services. During the event, many young people helped transport devotees to the Sangam on bikes.
These services also helped passengers travel between the Sangam, railway station and airport. According to the government, such transport options helped provide convenience and reduce traffic pressure during the large gathering.
Rural Transport May Expand
CM Yogi has also directed Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh to promote rural bus services on the lines of Bharat Taxi.
The government said that expanding such a model to rural areas could create employment opportunities for young people. The broader focus is to improve local transportation while extending social security benefits to drivers.
Bharat Taxi is currently focused on selected cities, with the government indicating that similar transport models could be expanded to other areas in the future.
