ChatGPT Privacy Center is being rolled out by OpenAI to help users understand and manage the privacy and data controls available on the platform.

The new feature brings several privacy-related options into one place, including Memory, Chat Privacy, Data Usage, Connected Apps and Personalization. Opening the Privacy Center does not automatically change any existing settings.

ChatGPT Privacy Center Puts Privacy Settings in One Place

The ChatGPT Privacy Center is designed as a central location where users can learn how their chats and other information are used. It also shows which privacy and data settings can be changed.

Users can review different controls and access the relevant settings individually. This means simply visiting the Privacy Center will not delete chats, clear stored information or modify existing preferences.

Personalized Chats and Ads Options

The new section also provides information about personalization and memory features. Memory allows ChatGPT to use information from previous conversations to make future responses more personalized.

Users can manage these options based on their preferences. The Privacy Center also provides information about Temporary Chat, which can keep conversations separate from regular chat history and personalization.

More Control Over ChatGPT Data

Another section covers data use and account access features. It includes information related to Connected Apps, Multi-Factor Authentication, Model Improvement and options to export or delete data.

For some accounts, users can also control whether their conversations are used to help improve OpenAI models. The available controls can vary depending on the account and settings.

The ChatGPT Privacy Center does not apply changes automatically. Users need to open the relevant option and make any desired changes themselves.

Privacy Center Rollout Will Happen in Phases

OpenAI is rolling out the feature in phases, so availability can differ depending on the user’s account, plan, region and Workspace settings.

On the web, users can access the Privacy Center through the Account menu, followed by Help and Privacy Center. On mobile, the option may appear under Settings.
