Apple has launched new versions of the Mac mini and Mac Studio with major performance upgrades.
The biggest highlight is the new 2nm M6 chip in the Mac mini, while the Mac Studio now comes with M5 Max and the all-new M5 Ultra processors.
The new desktops are designed to deliver faster AI performance, improved graphics, quicker storage, and better connectivity. Here’s everything you need to know.
Mac mini and Mac Studio price in India
The new Mac mini with the M6 chip starts at ₹99,900, while the M5 Pro version is priced from ₹2,09,900.
The Mac Studio with M5 Max starts at ₹2,79,900, while the top-end M5 Ultra model starts at ₹6,29,900.
Apple is also offering special education pricing starting at ₹88,990. Pre-orders are now open through Apple’s online store and Store app. Sales will begin on September 22 through Apple Stores and authorized retailers.
New Mac mini gets Apple’s first 2nm M6 chip
The biggest upgrade in the new Mac mini is Apple’s 2nm M6 processor. It features a 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, and dual 16-core Neural Engines to handle AI tasks more efficiently.
According to Apple, the new Mac mini delivers twice the graphics performance and up to four times faster AI performance than the previous M4 model.
The base model comes with 16GB unified memory and 256GB storage. Users can configure it with up to 32GB RAM and 2TB storage.
Apple has also introduced a more powerful M5 Pro version. It includes a 15-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 24GB memory, and 512GB storage as standard. This model can be upgraded to 64GB RAM and 8TB storage.
Connectivity has also improved. Both Mac mini models support Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.
Apple has upgraded the Ethernet port from 1Gb to 2.5Gb, while an optional 10Gb Ethernet version is also available for users who need faster wired networking.
Mac Studio is built for professionals
The new Mac Studio is aimed at creators, developers, and professionals who need maximum performance.
The M5 Max version supports up to a 40-core GPU, 128GB unified memory, and 8TB SSD storage.
The flagship M5 Ultra is even more powerful. Built using Apple’s Alta Fusion technology, it offers a 36-core CPU, 80-core GPU, and supports up to 512GB unified memory with storage options reaching 16TB.
Apple has also upgraded the SSD to PCIe Gen 6, offering much faster storage speeds than before.
Better connectivity and new pro features
The Mac Studio also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Another major addition is Genlock support through USB-C, a feature that helps professional video creators synchronize multiple cameras and displays accurately.
In the US, the new Mac mini starts at $899, while the Mac Studio starts at $2,499.
Apple has also confirmed that the 512GB memory configuration for the M5 Ultra Mac Studio will be available later in October.
