Indian students planning to study for a postgraduate degree in the UK have a new scholarship opportunity to consider.

The University of Sheffield Scholarship 2027 will provide eligible international students with a £7,000 reduction in tuition fees.

Indian students are included among the eligible applicants.

The scholarship is for students starting a full-time postgraduate taught course in September 2027.

The best part is that eligible students do not need to submit a separate scholarship application.

Who Can Apply for the University of Sheffield Scholarship?

The scholarship is available to students who hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught programme at the University of Sheffield.

Applicants must be permanent residents of an eligible country or must have lived there for the last three years.

The eligible countries and regions include India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Nigeria, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam.

Students must also be classified as overseas students for tuition fee purposes and must be paying for their studies themselves.

Another important deadline is the offer acceptance date. Students must accept their University of Sheffield offer by 4 PM UK time on July 6, 2027.

Which Courses Are Not Covered?

Not every programme qualifies for the £7,000 scholarship.

Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Certificate courses are excluded.

The scholarship is also not available for online or distance-learning programmes, Crossways courses and Erasmus Mundus courses.

Students must complete the eligible course fully at the University of Sheffield.

Students coming from the University of Sheffield International College can also qualify, subject to the scholarship conditions.

Important Rules Students Should Know

The £7,000 scholarship generally cannot be combined with another University of Sheffield scholarship or discount.

It also cannot normally be combined with external funding. However, a repayable loan is not considered external sponsorship under the scholarship conditions.

Students enrolled in a two-year master’s programme can receive the £7,000 scholarship in their second year, provided they successfully complete the first year.

Scholarship Cannot Be Deferred

Students should carefully plan their admission because the scholarship cannot be deferred.

If a student postpones their admission to another academic year, they will lose the scholarship.

Applicants are also responsible for making sure they receive any eligible funding.

The university will not backdate the scholarship if the required conditions were not met at the appropriate time.

What Makes This Scholarship Useful for Indian Students?

Studying in the UK can be expensive, particularly because of international tuition fees.

A £7,000 tuition fee reduction can therefore significantly lower the cost of a postgraduate degree.

Since eligible students are considered automatically and do not need to submit a separate scholarship application, Indian students planning to join the University of Sheffield in September 2027 should check the eligibility conditions and offer acceptance deadline carefully.
