Online shopping through Zepto may now cost a little more for customers with small orders.
The quick commerce platform has increased the minimum order value for free delivery from ₹149 to ₹199.
This means you must add items worth at least ₹199 to your cart to avoid paying delivery charges.
The new limit now matches rivals like Blinkit and Instamart.
During busy hours with high demand, the minimum order value for free delivery can go up to ₹299.
Why Has Zepto Increased the Limit?
Zepto wants customers to place bigger orders instead of making many small purchases.
A higher cart value helps the company reduce packaging and delivery costs for each order.
The change is also expected to encourage shoppers to add more products to their carts so they can qualify for free delivery.
Zomato Orders Could Become More Expensive
Food delivery on Zomato may also become costlier in the future.
The company says using sustainable and biodegradable packaging materials could increase the total cost of an order by 10% to 30%.
At present, most food is packed in plastic containers or plastic wrapping.
Packaging usually makes up around 5% of the total order value, and this cost is already paid by customers.
According to Zomato’s Chief Sustainability Officer, Anjali Ravi Kumar, the company wants to reduce plastic use for environmental reasons.
However, switching to eco-friendly packaging will also depend on how much extra customers are willing to pay.
