To meet this growing demand, Elon Musk’s AI company, xAI, has launched its new image model, Grok Imagine Image 2.0.
According to the company, the model focuses on accurate photo editing, better text rendering, and creating useful images for real-world tasks.
Easily Edit a Specific Part of a Photo
One of the biggest features of Grok Image 2.0 is its targeted editing capability. Users do not need to recreate an entire image just to change one part of it. They can select a specific area of the photo and edit it directly.
The model comes with a Magic Wand tool, which allows users to select any part of an image and make the required changes. It also offers features such as background removal and improved segmentation.
These tools can be useful for product photography, social media content, and marketing campaigns.
Use Up to 5 Photos at the Same Time
Grok Imagine Image 2.0 also supports multiple reference images. Users can provide up to five different images as references at the same time.
The model can combine elements from these images to create a new image or make edits. This can help users maintain the same look for a particular character, style, or product across multiple images.
Another feature is Smart Resize, which can convert one image into nine different aspect ratios. This makes it easier to create different image sizes for websites, advertisements, and social media platforms.

How Does Grok Image 2.0 Rank?
According to xAI, Grok Imagine Image 2.0 ranks second in the world in both the text-to-image and image editing categories, based on Arena leaderboard data from August 7, 2026.
In the image editing category, Grok scored 1,439 Elo points, while OpenAI’s GPT Image 2 ranked first with 1,463 points.
In the text-to-image category, Grok scored 1,320 points, compared with 1,380 points for GPT Image 2.
Where Can You Use Grok Imagine Image 2.0?
Grok Imagine Image 2.0 is currently available in Quality Mode on the web version of Grok at grok.com/imagine. It is also available through the iOS and Android apps.
However, API access for developers is not available yet. xAI is expected to introduce API access soon, but the company has not provided a specific launch date.
