The monsoon has already reached Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and many other parts of North India.
However, several areas are still waiting for widespread heavy rainfall.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued rain alerts for many states until July 12.
While Delhi-NCR is expected to receive rain over the next few days, cities like Mumbai, Surat, Shimla, and Manali are already witnessing heavy showers.
Delhi, UP, Punjab and Haryana to Receive Rain
Delhi-NCR is under a rain alert until July 12, with light to moderate rainfall expected over the coming days.
Western Uttar Pradesh, including Noida and Ghaziabad, is likely to receive rain between July 7 and July 12. Eastern Uttar Pradesh is expected to get heavy showers around July 9 to July 12.
Punjab is likely to receive rainfall between July 7-9 and again from July 11-12. Similar weather conditions are expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi during July 7-9 and July 10-12.
Eastern Rajasthan is also expected to witness continuous rainfall until July 12, while western Rajasthan may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds on July 9.
Heavy Rain Warning for Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh
The IMD has issued a heavy rain alert for Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh until July 12.
Apart from heavy rainfall, these regions may also experience thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. Popular hill stations like Shimla and Manali are already receiving heavy rain.
Residents and tourists have been advised to stay alert as weather conditions may affect travel and daily activities.
MP and Chhattisgarh Likely to See Intense Rain
Heavy rainfall is expected across many parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh over the next few days.
Western Madhya Pradesh is under a rain alert from July 7 to 9 and again until July 12, while eastern Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy rain between July 10 and 12.
Chhattisgarh is likely to experience heavy showers from July 8 to 11, along with thunderstorms and lightning in several districts.
Mumbai Under Red Alert, Schools Closed
Maharashtra continues to receive heavy monsoon rainfall, with Mumbai placed under a Red Alert.
Due to continuous rain, schools and colleges have been closed in Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar.
Heavy rainfall is also expected across Konkan and Goa until July 12, while Central Maharashtra, Saurashtra, and Kutch are likely to receive heavy showers from July 8 to 12.
In Gujarat, cities like Surat and Jamnagar are witnessing heavy rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several areas.
Low-Pressure System to Keep Monsoon Active
According to the Meteorological Department, a low-pressure area over Jharkhand and northern Odisha is keeping monsoon activity strong across central India.
Because of this system, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Konkan, Karnataka, West Bengal, and Sikkim are expected to receive heavy rainfall over the next few days.
The weather department has also said that conditions remain favourable for the monsoon to advance further into parts of Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
