If you have any important banking work planned this week, make sure to check your local bank holiday schedule first.

Several bank branches across different parts of India will remain closed on state-specific holidays this week.

Cities such as Kolkata, Aizawl, and Shillong will see additional bank holidays, while the usual weekend closures will also apply.

The holidays will affect both public sector and private banks, including SBI, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Axis Bank, and other lenders.

Bank Holiday on July 7

According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks in Aizawl (Mizoram) will remain closed on July 7 to mark MHIP Day.

MHIP (Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl) is one of Mizoram’s largest women’s welfare organisations.

The day is observed with government programs, cultural events, community service activities, and awareness campaigns.

Banks in Kolkata (West Bengal) will also remain closed on the same day to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.

This is a state-specific holiday observed under the Negotiable Instruments Act.

Bank Holiday on July 9

Banks in Shillong, Meghalaya, will remain closed on July 9 due to Beh Deinkhlam, an important traditional festival.

The festival is celebrated after the sowing season, with people performing rituals and prayers for a good harvest and prosperity.

Weekend Bank Holidays

Apart from these state holidays, banks across the country will also remain closed on their regular weekly holidays.

Second Saturday – Banks remain closed nationwide.

Sunday – Banks remain closed across India.

Customers can still use ATMs, internet banking, mobile banking, and UPI services during these holidays for most banking transactions.

Will the Stock Market Remain Open?

Yes. Since these are state-specific bank holidays, stock market trading will continue as usual.

The BSE, NSE, MCX, and NCDEX will operate normally, allowing investors to buy and sell securities without any disruption.

If you need to visit a bank branch this week, it is advisable to confirm the holiday schedule with your nearest branch before heading out to avoid any inconvenience.
