There is good news for passengers travelling to the Gulf.
Air India Express has announced the resumption of all its suspended flights to West Asia after services were affected by the recent US-Iran conflict.
The airline has restarted flights to Salalah in Oman and Kuwait, with more services set to return gradually over the next few days as operations return to normal.
Flights Restarting in Phases
Air India Express has already resumed the Kozhikode–Salalah route from July 2.
The Kozhikode–Kuwait service will restart from July 3, while Bengaluru–Kuwait flights will resume from July 4.
Initially, the airline will operate a limited number of flights before increasing frequencies:
Kozhikode–Salalah: Two flights per week.
Kozhikode–Kuwait: One weekly flight from July 3, increasing to three flights a week from July 5.
Bengaluru–Kuwait: One weekly flight from July 4, increasing to three weekly flights from July 7.
The airline said more flights to and from West Asia will be added gradually as operations continue to stabilise.
Oman and Kuwait Connectivity Restored
With these services returning, Air India Express has restored operations at both Muscat International Airport and Salalah International Airport in Oman.
The airline has also restarted Muscat–Mangaluru flights from July 3.
At present, Air India Express operates around 40 weekly flights from Muscat to seven Indian cities, offering passengers more travel options.
For travellers flying to Kuwait, the airline has confirmed that all its services will operate from Terminal 4 of Kuwait International Airport.
Passengers are advised to book tickets through the airline’s official website, mobile app, or authorised booking partners.
Why Were the Flights Suspended?
Air India Express had temporarily suspended several West Asia services after tensions in the region increased following the US-Iran conflict.
The situation led to airspace restrictions, drone and missile attacks, and flight disruptions across several countries.
Like many international airlines, Air India Express reduced operations to ensure passenger safety.
Now that regional tensions have eased and key air routes have reopened, airlines are gradually restoring their normal flight schedules.
New Abu Dhabi Route Also Begins This Month
Apart from restoring existing services, Air India Express is expanding its international network.
The airline has opened bookings for a new direct flight between Navi Mumbai International Airport and Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled to begin on July 15.
The route will be among the first international services to operate from the new Navi Mumbai airport and will further strengthen the airline’s presence in the Gulf region.
