There is good news for people who want to create or update their Aadhaar card in Nainital.
The Postal Department has launched a new app that allows users to book Aadhaar appointment slots from home, helping them avoid long queues at Aadhaar centres.
People can book their Aadhaar registration or update slot through the website postoffice-aadhar.web.app. The app is also available on the Google Play Store.
App Developed by Postal Department Employees
The app was launched by Senior Postmaster Amit Dutt at the Nainital Head Post Office. He said the app was developed by Postmasters I.K. Das and Shashi Shekhar.
According to officials, there are currently 26 Aadhaar service centres operating in the district. The new system has been introduced to make Aadhaar services faster and more convenient for residents.
Over 16 Lakh Aadhaar Services Completed
The Postal Department has handled a large number of Aadhaar-related requests in recent years. Last year, around 75,000 Aadhaar cards were issued, generating revenue of ₹50 lakh.
This year, Aadhaar-related services have already crossed 16 lakh. The department has also set a revenue target of ₹2.5 crore for the current year.
No Need to Stand in Long Queues
Officials said the app was created to solve the problem of long waiting lines at Aadhaar centres. Through the app, people can reserve slots and get tokens from home.
If an Aadhaar registration or update appointment is cancelled, users will receive an SMS notification. The department hopes the new system will save time and make the Aadhaar process smoother for citizens.
