Razorpay has taken a big step to simplify global payments for Indian businesses.

The company has partnered with Google Pay to enable smoother international transactions—something exporters have long struggled with.

A Smoother Way to Pay Globally

With this new integration, Razorpay becomes the first Indian payment aggregator to offer a card-based wallet checkout via Google Pay for cross-border payments.

What does that mean in simple terms?

Instead of typing in card numbers, CVV, and going through OTP steps, international customers can now pay with just a single tap using Google Pay.

This removes a major friction point that often causes buyers to abandon their carts before completing a purchase.

The feature operates under Razorpay’s Payment Aggregator Cross Border licence from the Reserve Bank of India, ensuring it follows regulatory guidelines.

Why This Matters for Indian Exporters

Global online shopping is changing fast. Digital wallets are expected to handle around 65% of all e-commerce transactions by 2030.

However, many Indian exporters have been stuck with outdated, card-only checkout systems.

By adding Google Pay—a widely used and trusted payment option across many countries—Razorpay is helping businesses offer a more familiar and convenient experience to international buyers.

Rahul Kothari, COO of Razorpay, highlighted that Indian businesses are now thinking beyond the domestic market.

They want to build products for a global audience, and smoother payments are a key part of that journey.

Building a Stronger Global Payments Stack

This move comes after Razorpay’s earlier integration with Apple Pay.

With both major wallets now available, along with support for international cards and multiple currencies, the company is strengthening its cross-border payment system.

The timing is important. India’s total exports reached $825 billion in FY25, and the country is aiming for $2 trillion by 2030.

By reducing payment friction and improving checkout experiences, Razorpay is positioning itself—and Indian businesses—to better compete in the global market.
