Rail passengers should take note of an important update.
Ticket reservation services linked to Delhi’s system will be temporarily unavailable for a few hours during the night of March 14–15, 2026 (Saturday–Sunday) due to scheduled maintenance.
According to Northern Railway, the services connected to the Passenger Reservation System in Delhi will be suspended around midnight.
The system is expected to remain unavailable for about three hours.
During this time, several passenger services will not work, so travelers planning to book or manage their tickets should do so before the scheduled downtime.
Ticket Booking and PNR Services Will Be Affected
While the system is under maintenance, many common railway services will not be available.
Passengers will not be able to access PNR status, make current reservations, or book online tickets for trains originating from Delhi.
In addition, ticket cancellations, passenger chart preparation, EDR services, and PRS reports will also remain unavailable at railway ticket counters.
Even the 139 railway enquiry service, which passengers often use to check PNR status and train information, will not function during this period.
The temporary suspension is part of a technical process called file compression, which helps improve the overall efficiency and performance of the reservation system.
Why This Maintenance Is Being Done
The maintenance work is part of routine system upgrades carried out to ensure smoother and faster reservation services for passengers.
The Passenger Reservation System is the centralized computerized platform used for railway ticket booking across India
It handles several key functions such as ticket booking, cancellation, Tatkal reservations, waitlist status checks, and passenger chart preparation.
This system currently operates from five major cities: Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, and Guwahati.
Once the maintenance work is completed, services are expected to return to normal.
