The United States has already made immigration rules stricter. Now, concerning news has also come from the United Kingdom (UK) for young people in Punjab.
Some UK universities have temporarily stopped accepting applications from students from Punjab and Haryana.
University College Birmingham has informed parents in these states about new UK government guidelines.
Admissions Suspended Due to Visa Compliance Concerns
According to reports, several well-known UK universities have blocked admissions for some students from Punjab and Haryana. This has affected the plans of thousands of students who were preparing to go to the UK for higher education.
Reports suggest that some universities found that many students from these states arrive in the UK on study visas but later drop out of their courses and start working. This harms the universities’ visa compliance ratings.
Investigations also found that in some cases, fake educational certificates and incorrect bank documents were submitted through agents.
Because of such incidents, some universities have stopped accepting certain types of applications from these regions.
Not a Government Ban, but Institutional Decision
It has been clarified that this is not an official ban or legal restriction by the UK government. The decision has been taken by individual universities to reduce risk and maintain compliance.
The restrictions mainly apply to students from Punjab and Haryana. However, in some cases, applications from students from Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir are also being examined more carefully.
New UK Compliance Guidelines for Universities
The UK government has asked universities and colleges to introduce new measures related to internal compliance checks and sponsorship of international students. The exact details and reasons for these changes are not fully clear yet.
To ensure full compliance, University College Birmingham is introducing new policies that affect certain regions and academic programs.
