The Gujarat government has announced a major relief for girl students.
Under the Namo Laxmi Yojana, the state will provide financial assistance worth ₹1,250 crore to more than 12 lakh girls.
This scheme will benefit students studying in classes 9 to 12 during the 2025–26 academic year.
The main goal is to ensure that no girl is forced to drop out of school due to financial problems after primary education.
Who Will Benefit From This Scheme?
The Namo Laxmi Yojana is being implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
It is managed by the state education department.
The scheme is available for girls studying in:
Schools affiliated with GSHSEB
CBSE-affiliated schools
Girls who are already receiving other government scholarships can also apply.
Over four years, each eligible student can receive up to ₹50,000 as financial support.
How Much Financial Help Will Students Get?
The amount given under the scheme is divided by class level and performance.
For Classes 9 and 10
₹500 per month for 10 months based on attendance
Total support of ₹20,000
₹10,000 paid after passing the Class 10 board exam
For Classes 11 and 12
₹750 per month for 10 months each year
Total support of ₹30,000
₹15,000 paid after passing the Class 12 exam
Apart from education, the scheme also aims to improve the nutrition and health of adolescent girls.
Eligibility Criteria for Namo Laxmi Yojana
To apply for this scheme, the student must meet the following conditions:
Must have studied from Class 1 to 8 in a government, government-aided, private school, or under RTE
Must be a permanent resident of Gujarat
Family annual income should be less than ₹6 lakh
