For anyone working with or relying on banks, it’s important to know the bank holidays in January.
These holidays affect branch operations, so planning your banking activities accordingly can save you time.
Today, January 11th is a Sunday, which is a regular weekly holiday for banks.
Banks Closed on January 12
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) releases a list of holidays in advance, showing which days banks will remain closed in different cities and states.
According to this list, January 12th is also a bank holiday in West Bengal.
Banks in West Bengal will remain closed to honor the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which is celebrated as National Youth Day.
Customers in the state should plan their urgent banking tasks for another day.
All other states will have normal banking operations on January 12th, so branches outside West Bengal will remain open.
Online Banking Services Are Unaffected
Even though branch operations will pause in West Bengal, online banking services will continue as usual.
This includes:
Net banking
Mobile banking
UPI payments
ATMs
Online fund transfers
So, customers can still complete most banking tasks from home, but any work that requires a branch visit will need to wait until banks reopen.
