Flight services across several parts of India were disrupted on Monday as dense fog reduced visibility and affected airport operations, especially in northern regions.

Passengers faced delays, diversions, and uncertainty throughout the day.

Dense Fog Hits Delhi Airport

Visibility at Delhi Airport dropped to nearly 125 meters, making it difficult for aircraft to land and take off.

Due to the poor visibility, flight operations were carried out under CAT-3 conditions, which are used during extremely low visibility but can still cause delays and cancellations.

One Air India Express flight from Goa to Delhi could not land because of the fog.

The aircraft also failed to land in Jaipur and was eventually diverted to Ahmedabad, where it landed safely.

Several other flights bound for Delhi were also diverted, leading to heavy air traffic congestion and inconvenience for passengers.

The Delhi Airport Authority said its ground teams were actively assisting passengers and working to manage operations smoothly despite the challenging weather conditions.

Airlines Issue Travel Advisories

Airlines across the country issued advisories, asking passengers to remain alert and check flight updates regularly.

IndiGo said fog conditions continued to affect airports in Delhi and other parts of North India, and arrivals could be impacted as the day progressed.

The airline advised passengers to check their flight status before leaving home and to allow extra travel time, as fog can also slow down road traffic.

IndiGo added that any changes to flights would be communicated through registered contact details and official digital platforms.

SpiceJet also warned passengers about possible disruptions due to low visibility in Kolkata.

The airline requested travelers to keep checking their flight status for the latest updates.

AAI Assures Passenger Support

Air India cautioned that flights on northern routes, including Delhi, could be affected by dense fog.

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that low visibility at select airports in northern India may impact flight schedules.

To help passengers, AAI shared airline helpline numbers and deployed assistance teams at affected airports.

Passengers were advised to stay in touch with their airlines through official channels and plan their travel with extra time for airport arrival and check-in.

AAI said it remains committed to passenger safety and smooth airport operations, even during adverse weather conditions.
