The Chief Minister’s Ayushman Sambal Yojana (CMAY) is a key initiative by the Rajasthan government to support children under 18 suffering from rare diseases.
The scheme provides free treatment, financial support, and monthly assistance to reduce the burden on families who cannot afford expensive medical care.
What is the Chief Minister’s Ayushman Sambal Yojana?
Under this scheme:
Children under 18 years receive financial aid and free treatment for 56 rare diseases.
Families get up to ₹50 lakh for treatment costs.
A monthly allowance of ₹5,000 is provided for necessary care.
Treatment is available only in government-approved hospitals such as AIIMS Jodhpur or JK Lon Hospital Jaipur.
The scheme aims to ensure children receive timely treatment, proper care, and financial support without interruption.
Eligibility and Key Features
To benefit from CMAY, children must:
Be below 18 years of age.
Be a Rajasthan resident or have lived in the state for at least three years.
Have disease certification from AIIMS Jodhpur or JK Lon Hospital Jaipur.
Other important features include:
Free treatment up to ₹50 lakh.
Monthly financial assistance of ₹5,000.
Children can also access benefits from other schemes.
Special fund created using government funds, CSR, and donations to cover treatment costs.
How to Apply
Applications are made online by the foster parent via e-Mitra or their SSO ID.
Aadhaar and Janadhaar details are automatically fetched on the portal.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMHO) of the district verifies the application.
The child is called for examination at AIIMS Jodhpur or JK Lon Jaipur.
Once certified, an online certificate is issued, and assistance approval is automatically generated.
Verification and Monitoring
Annual verification is required in November-December at e-Mitra or Block/District offices.
Verification is not required if:
The guardian has done biometric/OTP verification for pension or ration.
The child has visited the hospital every three months and the reports are updated.
The child or caregiver is physically unable, in which case officials visit the home.
If verification is delayed, payments are temporarily stopped but arrears are paid once verification is completed.
Payment and Guardianship
Payments are made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the Janadhaar-linked account.
The Rare Disease Fund covers all payments.
If the foster parent dies or abandons the child, a new guardian is appointed by the District Collector, usually a close relative.
Any pending funds are transferred to the new guardian.
When Aid Stops
Support under CMAY ends if:
The child recovers from the illness.
The child passes away.
Monitoring and Relaxation
The scheme is monitored by the Commissioner/Director of Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
Any relaxation of rules is also decided by the same authority.
