Delhi Traffic Police has taken a major step towards Digital India by making traffic challan payments easier and more convenient.
Now, all types of traffic challans can be paid through UPI apps at home, without visiting a police station.
This move is part of their effort to make payments simple, secure, and transparent.
Why This Initiative Was Introduced
The new system aims to promote cashless transactions, ensure transparent payments, and make traffic administration more efficient.
Commuters who receive traffic challans will no longer need to go to Delhi Traffic Police offices to pay fines.
Instead, they can settle payments directly from home using their mobile phones.
How to Pay Traffic Challans from Home
Once fully implemented, traffic fines can be paid through any major UPI application such as Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm.
The system is linked with the Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS), ensuring secure and fast transactions.
The Delhi Traffic Police has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Bank of India (SBI) to implement this service.
Satya Vir Katara, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic Headquarters), signed the MoU on behalf of Delhi Traffic Police.
The service is expected to go live on the BBPS platform in the coming days.
This step aligns with the Digital India vision and reflects the Delhi Traffic Police’s commitment to improving public services through technology.
