To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during Diwali and Chhath Puja, Central Railway has rolled out a comprehensive plan.
Starting October 25, 2025, special trains will run across major divisions, including Mumbai, Pune, and Solapur, connecting key destinations in North and South India.
The aim is to ease travel for festival-goers, reduce overcrowding at stations, and ensure smoother journeys for thousands of passengers heading home for the celebrations.
Mumbai Division: Key Trains and Routes
From the Mumbai Division, four major festive trains will operate:
CSMT–Gorakhpur Special (01079) at 22:30 hrs
LTT–Danapur Special (01143) at 10:30 hrs
LTT–Danapur Special (01017) at 12:15 hrs
Panvel–Chiplun Unreserved Special (01159) at 16:40 hrs
These trains will halt at important junctions such as Thane, Nashik, Bhusaval, Bhopal, and Lucknow, providing convenient connections for passengers traveling to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Pune Division: Direct Links to Northern States
The Pune Division will operate six festive specials to accommodate high travel demand:
Pune–Gorakhpur (01415) at 06:50 hrs
Pune–Danapur (01449) at 15:30 hrs
Pune–Hazrat Nizamuddin (01483) at 17:30 hrs
Khadki–Sanganer (01407) at 09:45 hrs
Daund–Kalaburagi (01421) at 05:00 hrs
Kolhapur–Kalaburagi (01451) at 06:10 hrs
These trains ensure smoother travel from Maharashtra to key northern destinations during the festival season.
Solapur Division: Additional Services
The Solapur Division will run two trains from Kalaburagi:
Kalaburagi–Daund (01422)
Kalaburagi–Kolhapur (01452)
These services provide extra capacity for regional travelers in the southern and central parts of Maharashtra.
