Good news for Delhi residents! The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has extended the deadline for its one-time property tax amnesty scheme, Suniyo-2025-26.
Earlier, the scheme was set to end on September 30th, but now residents can avail of it until December 31st, giving them three extra months to participate.
Most of the scheme’s terms remain unchanged. However, property owners who file their taxes between October 1 and December 31 will need to pay a 2% late fee on the basic tax amount.
The scheme was launched on June 1st and has already attracted 1.16 lakh taxpayers, generating revenue of around ₹370 crore for the MCD.
Notably, 65,874 new property owners paid taxes for the first time, contributing ₹187.8 crore alone.
Record Property Tax Collection
In the financial year 2025-26, the MCD has collected a total of ₹2,111 crore from property taxes.
This is a 22.5% increase compared to last year, and the number of taxpayers has grown by 18%.
The MCD believes that extending the deadline will allow more people to benefit from the scheme and will help strengthen the city’s tax base.
