After this date, PCs running on Windows 10 will no longer get free monthly security updates.

This means that if a system vulnerability appears, hackers or cyber attackers could take advantage of it.

Concerns Over User Security

The move has raised concerns about the digital safety of millions of users worldwide. Many people are urging Microsoft to reconsider its decision.

According to the American consumer group Consumer Reports, millions of users still have devices that cannot be upgraded to Windows 11.

If Windows 10 support ends, these users could face a higher risk of cyberattacks.

Reports show that as of August this year, over 46% of users worldwide are still using Windows 10, and most of these systems do not meet the requirements for Windows 11.

Options Available for Users

To deal with this, Microsoft has suggested some alternatives:

Paid Coverage: Users can continue with Windows 10 by paying $30 (around ₹2,650) for one year of security updates. This will extend protection until October of next year.

Microsoft Rewards: Another year of coverage can be obtained by redeeming 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points.

OneDrive Backup: Limited coverage is also available through OneDrive backup.

Upgrade to Windows 11: Users who have compatible systems can switch to Windows 11 for full support and updates.
