The closures are linked to occasions including Ganesh Chaturthi, Ganesh Puja, Varasiddhi Vinayaka Vrata, Vinayakar Chathurthi and Hartalika observances.
On September 15, banks will again remain closed in selected centres. These include Ahmedabad, Bhubaneswar, Guwahati, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
The September 15 holiday is linked to observances including Samvatsari, Nuakhai and the second day of Ganesh Chaturthi, depending on the location.
Why Are Banks Closed for Two Days?
The two-day closure is mainly due to regional festivals and religious observances.
Since different states and cities follow different holiday calendars, a bank branch that is closed in one city may remain open in another.
Ganesh Chaturthi is being observed on September 14 this year and is associated with celebrations dedicated to Lord Ganesha.
The festival is particularly significant in several parts of western and southern India.
Samvatsari is an important Jain observance and marks the concluding day of Paryushana.
Nuakhai, meanwhile, is an important agricultural festival associated particularly with western Odisha and the arrival of the new rice harvest.

Customers planning cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque-related work or other branch-based services should check the holiday status of their local branch before visiting.
The closure of a physical branch does not mean that all banking services stop.
