Which iPhones will get iOS 26?

Apple has officially introduced the new iPhone 17 series, which includes four models: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

But alongside these new phones, Apple is also launching its latest software update, iOS 26, which will be available starting September 15, 2025.

This new iOS version will be released worldwide for all compatible Apple devices.

Apple is also releasing watchOS 26 on the same day, which will work with Apple Watch Series 6 and newer, including all Ultra models.

To use watchOS 26, you will need an iPhone 11 or later running iOS 26.

What’s New in iOS 26?

The biggest change in iOS 26 is a fresh new design called Liquid Glass.

This design gives the operating system a smooth, glass-like look with transparent effects, fluid animations, and depth that make the lock screen, widgets, and apps feel more lively and immersive.

Apple says this new design makes your phone feel more personal and modern without making it harder to use.

Smarter Features Powered by AI

iOS 26 adds new smart features that use AI to make everyday tasks easier.

These include message and notification summaries, smart actions that change depending on what you’re doing, and real-time translations inside apps.

However, these advanced features will only work on the newest phones: iPhone 15 Pro, 15 Pro Max, the entire iPhone 16 series, and the new iPhone 16e.

Improved Messages and Phone Apps

The Messages app has been improved to be more fun and interactive.

You can now change chat backgrounds, create polls, set themes for each chat, and see when others are typing in group messages.

Apple Cash is now built right into Messages, making it easier to send money to friends.

The Phone app also has new tools:

Call Screening blocks spam calls using AI.

Hold Assist stays on the line for you during long customer service waits until a real person answers.

Device Compatibility and Support

Apple has stopped support for iOS 26 on older models like the iPhone Xs, Xs Max, and XR.

But many devices will still get the update, including iPhone 11 through iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation), and the new iPhone 16e.

So, most users will get to enjoy these new features without needing to buy a new phone right away.
