The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has started issuing a special visa called the ‘Blue Visa,’ which allows eligible people to stay in the country for 180 days, or six months.
This visa offers 10 years of residence to those who have made outstanding contributions in specific areas.
These areas include environmental protection, sustainability, and clean or renewable energy.
Although the Blue Visa was first announced in 2024, it officially launched that same year. Now, eligible individuals can apply for this visa whether they are inside the UAE or living abroad.
Who can benefit from the UAE Blue Visa?
According to Gulf News, well-known individuals who have positively impacted the mentioned fields can apply.
This includes scientists and researchers with important global achievements, investors and entrepreneurs working on environment, climate change,
and sustainability projects, as well as experts in government and private environmental organizations in the UAE.
The Emirates is focusing more on sustainability, and this visa supports the country’s long-term goal to become more sustainable.
The UAE even celebrated 2024 as its second consecutive sustainability year.
Note: Sustainability means using today’s resources in a way that meets current needs without harming the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
How to apply for the Blue Visa?
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (IPC) has created a website and mobile app where eligible people can apply. The steps are:
Visit the website or app and fill in your details like email ID.
Provide proof of your work and achievements in environmental fields.
Have a valid passport with at least six months of validity.
Pay the required fees.
Submit your application.
You will receive an email confirming your application has been received.
How to apply if I’m outside the UAE?
If you want to apply for the UAE Blue Visa from India or any other country, the application for the six-month visa opened officially on May 13, 2025.
