Ads Coming to Amazon Prime Video in India

If you enjoy watching shows or movies on Amazon Prime Video, get ready for a change. Starting June 17, 2025, Amazon Prime Video will begin showing ads to its users in India.

This update has already been rolled out in countries like the US and UK, and now it’s coming to India too. Amazon has informed users about this change through email.

Want to Watch Without Ads? You’ll Have to Pay Extra

To continue watching ad-free content, users will need to buy a new Ad-Free Add-On Plan.

This is an additional cost on top of your regular Prime membership.
The cost for this add-on is:

₹129 per month, or

₹699 per year (discounted price; regular price is ₹999 per year)

This add-on will be available starting June 17, 2025.

Existing Prime Plans Remain the Same

Amazon has confirmed that the price of the current Prime membership will not change. Here are the current plan details:

Monthly Prime Plan: ₹299

Annual Prime Plan: ₹1499

Prime Lite Plan: ₹799 per year

Note: Prime Lite already shows ads and supports streaming only in 720p resolution on mobile or TV.

Why Is Amazon Showing Ads?

Amazon says the reason for adding ads is to help the company invest in creating better content.

They also claim that the number of ads on Prime Video will be much less than what you see on regular TV or other streaming platforms.
