Traveling to Dubai has become very popular among Indians, especially for holidays or visiting family.
However, new rules will make it harder for those planning to stay with relatives or friends in Dubai.
Starting December 8, 2024, individuals applying for a visa will need to submit several documents.
Required Documents for Staying with Relatives or Friends
If you’re planning to stay with a family member, friend, or relative in Dubai, you will need to provide a rental agreement of the host, a copy of their Emirates ID, residence visa,
and contact details. Additionally, Indian tourists must submit hotel booking documents and a return ticket when applying for a visa.
Impact of the New Rules on Travel Plans
These new rules will come into effect on December 8, coinciding with the Dubai Shopping Festival, which runs until January 14.
While these rules are straightforward for those staying in hotels, they pose a challenge for visitors staying with relatives.
Many travelers may struggle to collect the required documents, and those who can’t may have to book hotels instead.
This will raise travel costs significantly, with hotel stays in Dubai ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh per night.
Higher Costs and Potential Decline in Tourists
As a result, tourists may need to adjust their budgets, particularly for shopping and entertainment, and opt for more affordable options.
This change is expected to decrease the number of tourists visiting Dubai, especially during the busy Christmas
and New Year period, as many might cancel their trips due to the difficulties in meeting the new documentation requirements.
