New MacBook Pro Models and RAM upgrades for MacBook Air

Apple has recently launched new MacBook Pro models featuring the new M4 chips. In addition to this, the company announced RAM upgrades for the MacBook Air lineup.

They have doubled the RAM in the base model of the MacBook Air, which comes with M2 and M3 chips, from 8GB to 16GB.

The great news is that the price remains the same, meaning users can now get double the RAM without paying more.

Apart from the RAM increase, no other changes were made to the laptops. Both models still have a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display.

The M3 model offers 512GB of storage, while the M2 model has 256GB of storage.

Details on RAM Upgrades

During the recent Mac event, Apple confirmed the upgrade to 16GB of RAM for the base models of the M2 and M3 MacBook Air.

Previously, both variants were sold with only 8GB of RAM. The starting price for the lineup remains at $999 (about Rs. 83,000) in the US.

The MacBook Air is available in four colors: Midnight, Starlight, Silver, and Space Gray.

In India, the 13-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip and 16GB of RAM is priced at Rs 1,14,900. The 13-inch MacBook Air with the M3 chip and 16GB of RAM costs Rs 1,34,900.

Benefits of Increased Memory

The increased RAM will provide more resources for Apple’s features in the upcoming macOS Sequoia update.

This upgrade is expected to improve app performance and multitasking capabilities. Earlier this year, Apple also launched new 13-inch

and 15-inch MacBook Air models with the M3 chip. New models with the M4 chip are anticipated to be released around the same time next year.

Apart from the RAM upgrade, there are no other changes in the MacBook Air’s hardware. It features a 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The M3 variant includes a 512GB SSD for storage, while the M2 variant has a 256GB SSD.

The MacBook Air models also come with a MagSafe 3 charging port and two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports for connectivity.

New MacBook Pro with M4 Chip

Apple has refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup, now powered by the latest M4 chipset.

This is a 3nm processor that first appeared in the iPad Pro earlier this year, and it has also been included in the 24-inch iMac (2024)

and Mac mini (2024) models introduced earlier this week. The new MacBook Pro models are equipped with the M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max chipsets. They are available in 14-inch and 16-inch display sizes and support ray tracing as well as Apple Intelligence features, which were rolled out to users in the US on Monday.
