Railways to Run Special Trains for RRB-NTPC Exam Candidates

There is good news for candidates appearing in the upcoming Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) NTPC examination.

To help candidates travel easily to their exam centres, Indian Railways has announced the operation of four special unreserved trains between Gorakhpur and Lucknow Junction.

These special trains have been introduced specifically for RRB NTPC aspirants and will run on selected dates in June 2026.

According to Sumit Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of North Eastern Railway, the trains are being operated to provide convenient and affordable transportation for candidates travelling for the examination.

Four Special Trains Announced for NTPC Candidates

The Railway Administration will run the following special trains between Gorakhpur and Lucknow Junction:

Train No. 05005 Gorakhpur–Lucknow Junction Unreserved Exam Special

Train No. 05006 Lucknow Junction–Gorakhpur Unreserved Exam Special

Train No. 05031 Gorakhpur–Lucknow Junction Unreserved Exam Special

Train No. 05032 Lucknow Junction–Gorakhpur Unreserved Exam Special

All four trains will stop at major stations including Khalilabad, Basti, Babhanan, Mankapur, Gonda, Karnailganj, Barabanki and Badshahnagar.

Train No. 05005: Gorakhpur to Lucknow Junction

This special train will run from June 14 to June 22, 2026.

The train will leave Gorakhpur at 12:45 PM and reach Lucknow Junction at 5:45 PM.

Along the way, it will stop at Khalilabad, Basti, Babhanan, Mankapur, Gonda, Karnailganj, Barabanki and Badshahnagar.

Train No. 05006: Lucknow Junction to Gorakhpur

This train will operate from June 13 to June 21, 2026.

It will depart from Lucknow Junction at 6:15 PM and arrive in Gorakhpur at 11:55 PM, stopping at all major intermediate stations on the route.

Train No. 05031: Evening Special from Gorakhpur

Running from June 13 to June 21, 2026, this train will depart from Gorakhpur at 7:00 PM.

After halting at important stations including Basti, Gonda and Barabanki, it will reach Lucknow Junction at 12:55 AM the following day.

Train No. 05032: Lucknow to Gorakhpur Day Service

This special train will run from June 14 to June 22, 2026.

It will leave Lucknow Junction at 12:45 PM and reach Gorakhpur at 6:20 PM, providing another convenient travel option for exam candidates.

All Coaches Will Be Unreserved

Indian Railways has confirmed that each special train will have 12 coaches. These will include:

10 General Second Class (GSCN) coaches

2 SLRD coaches

All coaches will be unreserved, allowing candidates to travel without a reservation.

The Railway Administration has also stated that additional unreserved coaches may be added if passenger demand increases.

Candidates are advised to check the latest train updates before travelling, as timings and coach composition may be changed if required.

With thousands of aspirants expected to appear for the RRB NTPC examination, these special trains are expected to provide much-needed relief and make travel to examination centres smoother and more convenient.
