Maruti Engage: India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, is shifting its attention towards premium cars.
In addition to the recently introduced Grand Vitara, Franks, and Jimny SUVs, the company is now gearing up to launch a new premium MPV based on the Toyota Innova Highcross.
This upcoming model, named Engage, is set to be unveiled on July 5th and will be Maruti Suzuki’s most expensive car in India.
Redesigned Exterior with Unique Appeal
The Maruti Suzuki Engage MPV will be built on the Innova Highcross platform, but its design will be modified to give it a distinct look.
A leaked picture suggests that the front grille of the MPV will resemble that of the Grand Vitara SUV, featuring a black finish with chrome accents.
The eye-catching hexagonal-mesh patterned grille will enhance the Engage’s overall attractiveness.
Advanced Features and Seating Layout
The Engage will be available in a 6/7-seater configuration and will be the first Maruti car to feature an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS).
This system will offer various advanced features, including adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, rear cross traffic alert, and high beam assist.
These technologies aim to enhance safety and driver convenience.
Powertrain Options and Launch Expectations
The Engage MPV will offer the same powertrain choices as the Innova Highcross.
It will be equipped with a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine generating 171 Bhp and 205 Nm of torque, coupled with a CVT transmission.
Additionally, there will be a 2.0-litre Atkinson cycle hybrid petrol powertrain (184bhp) connected to the e-CVT.
Bookings for the Engage will commence soon, and the official launch is anticipated during the festive season.
Considering the current pricing of the Toyota Innova Highcross, the Maruti Suzuki Engage is likely to fall within a similar price range of Rs 18.55 lakh to Rs 29.99 lakh (ex-showroom).
