Jio and SpaceX Join Forces for Satellite Internet Services in India

Jio has announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX on March 12 to introduce Starlink’s satellite internet services in India.

Interestingly, Airtel had also announced a similar partnership with SpaceX a day earlier, on March 11.

Starlink has already applied for approval to launch its services in India, and approval is expected soon.

Service Launch After Approval

Once Starlink receives the necessary approvals in India, both Jio and Airtel will be able to offer its services.

As part of the partnership, Jio and Starlink will collaborate to expand their services across India.

Similar to Airtel, Jio plans to offer Starlink products through its retail and online stores.

Starlink equipment will be available at Jio’s physical outlets, and the company will also provide customer service for installation and activation support.

Jio’s Commitment to Affordable Internet

Reliance Jio Group CEO, Mathew Oommen, emphasized that providing affordable and high-speed broadband access to every Indian has been a core priority for Jio.

He stated that partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink to India reflects the company’s dedication to this mission.

By integrating Starlink into Jio’s broadband network, the company aims to enhance its reach and build greater trust among consumers.

Airtel’s Agreement with SpaceX

Airtel also revealed its agreement with SpaceX, under which both companies will collaborate to provide Starlink services to schools, colleges, hospitals, and remote areas.

Starlink’s satellite technology may also be integrated into Airtel’s network infrastructure.

Starlink, which offers internet services via satellites in low Earth orbit, is already operational in several countries, including Australia.
