Mumbai:
Hyundai, the leading automobile manufacturer in India, is set to revolutionize the market with the introduction of an electric version of its best-selling car, the Creta.
Production of the electric variant is slated to commence in December 2024 at Hyundai’s state-of-the-art plant in Chennai,
marking a significant milestone as it will be the company’s first electric vehicle manufactured locally in India.
Anticipated Launch Timeline
While the official launch date for the Hyundai Creta Electric remains undisclosed, industry insiders speculate that the EV could hit the market as early as the first quarter of 2025.
Media reports suggest that Hyundai is gearing up to kickstart production of its maiden Made-in-India EV before the year concludes.
Features and Specifications
The Creta EV is expected to draw inspiration from the recently unveiled Creta facelift.
Reports indicate that the electric SUV may house a 45kWh battery pack sourced from LG Chem, although it could be marginally less potent than competitors like the Maruti Suzuki eVX and the MG ZS EV, which boast larger battery capacities.
The electric motor likely to power the Creta EV could be borrowed from Hyundai’s globally acclaimed Kona EV,
featuring a single motor mounted on the front axle, delivering an impressive 138bhp power output and 255Nm torque.
Market Competition and Landscape
In the burgeoning electric SUV segment, the Hyundai Creta EV is poised to go head-to-head with contenders such as the Maruti Suzuki eVX and the MG ZS EV,
each offering unique features and battery configurations.
Upcoming Launches on the Horizon
In addition to the electrifying debut of the Creta EV, Hyundai is gearing up to unveil the updated Alcazar in the coming months.
While minimal changes are expected in terms of design, the refreshed model is anticipated to boast an array of cutting-edge features, including ADAS technology,
panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front seats, and a dual-screen setup, enhancing the driving experience for discerning consumers.
Expect a refreshed interior theme and upholstery to further elevate the SUV’s appeal.
