EaseMyTrip resumes Flight Bookings for Maldives after Boycott

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep and shared beautiful pictures of the place, which were well-received by the public.

However, this visit led to controversy when some ministers from Maldives made inappropriate comments about PM Modi on social media.

This caused tension between India and Maldives for a while,

leading to some companies in India deciding to boycott Maldives in solidarity with PM Modi and the country.

One such company was the online travel company EaseMyTrip, which initially stopped booking flights to Maldives but has now quietly resumed these bookings.

This decision drew criticism on social media, with people mocking the company for its actions.

EaseMyTrip had suspended flight and hotel bookings

Indeed, EaseMyTrip decided to boycott Maldives in January and stopped booking flights and hotels. They stated that this action was taken in honor of the country.

The company has now restarted these services.

However, this decision has caused significant trouble for the company.

People on social media have begun labeling it as hypocrisy.

On social media platform X, a user wrote that the company, which previously claimed to prioritize the nation, promoted itself.

Now, without any explanation, they have ended the boycott.

Nishant Pitti had to come himself and answer

The company’s founder and CEO, Nishant Pitti, addressed this issue personally. He stated that EaseMyTrip’s boycott of Maldives is ongoing. Any decision to end the boycott will be announced officially.

In an interview with Mint in January, Pitti emphasized the company’s responsibility to protect the country’s honor.

He acknowledged the significant economic impact of tourism in Maldives and their role in facilitating Indian travel there.

However, at present, their focus is on national interests rather than business considerations.
