Train journeys often leave passengers craving for a hot, satisfying meal, but the offerings from train pantries seldom hit the mark.
However, there’s good news on the horizon for train travelers, courtesy of the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
In an exciting development, IRCTC has forged a partnership with the popular food delivery app Swiggy, enabling passengers to order from Swiggy’s diverse menu even while on the move.
Initial Rollout and Expansion Plans
The initiative is set to kick off from four prominent railway stations initially.
If successful, IRCTC aims to extend the service to a broader range of stations, ensuring passengers across the network can relish their favorite meals during their train journeys.
First Stops: Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam
Passengers traveling through Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam stations will be the first to savor the convenience of ordering Swiggy’s delectable offerings while on board.
How to Order Swiggy in a Moving Train
Ordering Swiggy food on the train is simple and hassle-free:
- Visit the IRCTC portal and enter your PNR details.
- Choose from a selection of outlets listed.
- Select your desired dishes and place your order.
- Payment options include online transactions and Cash on Delivery (COD) for added convenience.
Continuing the Tradition of Convenience
This isn’t IRCTC’s first venture into partnering with food delivery apps.
A similar arrangement was made with Zomato previously, allowing passengers at stations like Delhi, Prayagraj, Kanpur, Lucknow, and Varanasi to enjoy meals from the comfort of their train compartments.
