New Delhi :
Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra has a tradition of launching new vehicles every year on August 15, and this year is no exception.
Following the successful launch of the Mahindra Scorpio-N SUV last year, the company is now gearing up to unveil its pickup variant.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N pickup is scheduled to make its debut on August 15
and will initially be introduced in South Africa, one of the company’s key markets since 1996.
Design and Features
The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N pickup will feature a longer wheelbase compared to its SUV counterpart, offering a spacious load bed.
Drawing inspiration from the Scorpio Classic, which has a pickup variant known as the Gateway in India, the new pickup will be known as ‘Pikup’ in foreign markets like South Africa and Australia.
It is expected to be available in both single and double-cab body styles, with options for standard and tray-back bed variants.
Powertrain Options
The Mahindra Scorpio N pickup will share its powertrain options with the Scorpio N SUV.
Customers can expect a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine producing 200 HP and 370 Nm of torque (6MT), while the 6AT variant will have a torque output of 380 Nm.
The diesel engine will be available in two tuning options, delivering either 130 HP and 300 Nm of torque or 172 HP and 370 Nm of torque (6MT), with the 6AT variant offering 400 Nm of torque.
Additionally, a 4WD option will be available with the diesel variant.
