Vi Prepaid Family Plan allows eligible Vodafone Idea prepaid users to share mobile data with family members across India.
Launched on October 16, 2026, the service supports groups of up to four members and offers recharge discounts of up to 10% through the Vi App.
The feature is designed for families whose members use separate prepaid connections. Each person retains their own recharge plan and validity while gaining the option to transfer data to another member when needed.
Vi Prepaid Family Plan: Key Benefits
The new service supports one primary member and up to three secondary members.
Eligible users can create a family group through the Vi App and add other active Vi prepaid numbers after completing the required verification.
Members can share 500 MB of data in a single transfer. The feature works across telecom circles, meaning family members living in different cities or states can also share eligible data.
The plan does not combine everyone’s recharge validity or replace their individual prepaid connections. Instead, it adds data-sharing and recharge-discount benefits to eligible accounts.
How to Create a Vi Prepaid Family Group
Customers can set up their group through the Vi App by following these steps:
Open the Vi App and select the Family tab on the home screen.
Choose Create Family.
Select a contact or enter an eligible Vi prepaid mobile number.
Complete the required OTP verification to add the member.
The person who creates the group becomes the primary member, while the added users become secondary members.
Members must meet the eligibility requirements, and postpaid or non-Vi numbers cannot directly join the prepaid family group.
Data Sharing Limits and Validity
Vi’s family feature allows eligible members to transfer 500 MB of data at a time.
According to the company’s published terms, data sharing is permitted once a day, up to twice a week and four times in a calendar month.
The transferred data remains valid until 11:59 PM on the day it is received.
The sender must have at least 600 MB available in an eligible main data balance, and both the sender and recipient need active service validity.
Not every data benefit can be transferred. Add-on packs, promotional data, weekend rollover benefits and certain special-plan allowances are excluded.
Customers should check their available balance and eligibility in the app before attempting a transfer.
Vi Family Members Can Get Up to 10% Off Recharge
Along with data sharing, eligible family members can receive discounts of up to 10% on qualifying recharges made through the Vi App. The discount applies to eligible unlimited packs with service validity and data packs above ₹99, subject to the offer’s conditions.
The benefit is not automatically available on every recharge channel or every plan. Customers should check the discount displayed during checkout before paying.
