Delhi CJP Protest travel restrictions are affecting movement across the national capital on October 10, 2026, prompting Delhi Airport to advise passengers to leave extra time for their journeys.

Security arrangements, traffic diversions and restrictions at metro stations may make it harder for commuters to reach the airport on schedule.

The advisory comes ahead of a planned demonstration at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and student organisations.

Passengers travelling to or from Indira Gandhi International Airport have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative transport options.

Delhi CJP Protest Triggers Airport Travel Advisory

Delhi Airport has asked flyers to allow additional time for their commute amid anticipated traffic restrictions and enhanced security arrangements.

The advisory also recommends considering available alternatives, including app-based cabs and city buses, to help reach the airport.

Passengers should check their flight status before leaving and account for possible delays on the roads.

Travellers using public transport should also verify whether their intended metro station is operating normally for entry and exit.

The airport advisory follows traffic restrictions announced by Delhi Police ahead of the proposed protest.

Authorities have warned that traffic movement could be affected at several important junctions and surrounding roads across the city.

Metro Station Restrictions and Road Diversions

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has announced temporary restrictions on entry and exit at selected stations as part of the security arrangements.

The restrictions affect major locations in central Delhi and other parts of the network, while interchange facilities remain available at most affected stations, except New Delhi metro station.

Commuters should check the latest DMRC service updates before travelling, as restrictions and operating arrangements may be reviewed depending on the situation.

A metro station may still allow interchange between lines even when its entry and exit gates are closed.

Delhi Traffic Police has also warned of possible diversions from 6 am on October 10.

Around 30 locations and nearby stretches may experience disruption, depending on the prevailing law-and-order situation.

Why Is the Protest Being Held?

The planned demonstration is being organised by CJP and student groups, including the All India Students’ Association (AISA).

Protesters are demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities connected with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Delhi Police has denied permission for the gathering, citing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita.

Authorities have warned that unauthorised assembly could lead to legal action.

The restrictions are intended to manage security and public movement around the planned demonstration.

The actual impact on individual journeys may vary depending on the route, time of travel and any further changes to security arrangements.

What Passengers and Commuters Should Do

People travelling through Delhi on October 10 should allow extra time, check road conditions and confirm metro station access before setting out.

Those heading to the airport should also check their flight status and follow updates from airport and transport authorities.

Commuters who do not need to travel through affected areas may consider postponing non-essential journeys until restrictions ease.

Since traffic diversions and security arrangements may change during the day, checking official updates shortly before departure is advisable.
